Taylor Alison Swift (born December 13th 1989) is an American musician and singer. Her discography covers many kinds of music. Swift was born in West Reading (PA) and relocated to Nashville as a teenager to pursue the dream of becoming a country singer. She signed a songwriting contract with Sony/ATV Music Publishing in 2004 and signed a recording deal with Big Machine Records in 2005. Her self-titled debut album was her first album featuring country music. It was also the first U.S. platinum certified album. Swift's next album, Fearless (2008) was about country pop. Speak Now (2010) was her second. "Love Story" (the first song from the country genre to reach the top of the U.S. chart of pop airplay) and "You Belong with Me," the latter track, were Swift's next albums, Fearless (2008) and Speak Now (2010). Red (2012) featured the debut Billboard Hot 100 song number one, "We Are Never Ever Going back Together". The singer discarded her image as a country singer and dropped 1989 (2014) which was a synth-pop album that included the chart-topping tracks "Shake It off", "Blank Space" and "Bad Blood". Reputation, a hip-hop-flavored album that featured the top-selling hit "Look What You Made Me Do", was the result of media scrutiny. Swift who had quit Big Machine, signed with Republic Records and released Lover (2019) which was her seventh studio record. The autobiographical film Miss Americana was released in 2020. Swift delved into indie folk and alternative rock with her albums for 2020, Folklore and Evermore which featured two singles "Cardigan" and "Willow" were atop the Hot 100. After a dispute over her masters Swift started to record six albums. She released two albums in 2021: Fearless (Taylor’s Version) and Red. "All Too Well (10-minute Version)" by the latter album became the longest Hot 100 song. Records for streaming all time were set by Swift's album 2022 Midnights and the single "Anti-Hero." Swift has also directed music videos as well films such as All Too Well The Short Film (2021), as well as playing roles in a variety of other projects. Swift is among the world's most-selling artists, having sold more than 200 million records across the globe. She has the highest amount of streams on Spotify and has five albums open with more than one million copies sold in America. Among her accolades are 12 Grammy Awards, including three Album of the Year wins and an Emmy Award; 40 American Music Awards and 29 Billboard Music Awards; and 92 Guinness World Records. Swift has been listed in Rolling Stone’s 100 Greatest songwriters of All Time, Billboard’s Greatest of All Time Artists as well as Forbes Celebrity 100 and Time 100. Swift was awarded the titles of Artist of the Decade as and Woman of the Decade. She is a strong advocate for women's empowerment as well as rights for artists.
